Drug Rehab and Creating a Spiritual Change
In the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous the second chapter discusses a solution to alcoholism or drug addiction. The originators of AA found sobriety by having deep and emotional spiritual experiences. At Cirque Lodge in Sundance Utah, we strive to provide those of our alcohol and drug rehab facility similar experiences. A variety of treatments and recovery activities go into our mountain based addiction treatment program. The healing serenity of nature plays a part in experiencing a deep and emotional, spiritual change. Some can get confused by a spiritually based program. There is a misconception that spirituality means religion. At the Cirque, this is not the case. Spiritual recovery comes in many forms. Residents in drug rehab can connect to greater spiritual levels however they feel comfortable. Nature, the mountain, yoga, meditation, and even aspects of Native American culture are used to teach spiritual recovery from alcoholism or drug addiction. The focus is to give each drug rehab resident as many opportunities as needed to create such vital spiritual experiences. Such changes can be foundational for a successful long term recovery.
Ultimately, these changes and willingness have got to come within the alcoholic/addict. This process is not an easy one. Alcoholism or drug addiction can be a deeply rooted problem. Such internal changes can require many hours of personal effort as well as professional care. Cirque Lodge is balanced with an effective clinical addiction treatment. Intensive therapies and care is utilized in arresting the disease and treating the cognitive, behavioral, social and psychological problems that are had with chemical dependency. The healing mind and soul is then treated with a spiritual effort intended to create an internal change. This is done through experiential and recovery based drug rehab programming.
